Made it to Idaho!

I had a great drive to Idaho. I spent the night last night in Winnemucca before finishing my trip today. I got into Idaho Falls about 1:30 and I never saw a snow flake until I got here. There were a few icy spots on the road but it wasn't bad and most of the way it was on dry pavement. Now I am exactly where I want to be!

Last post from Susanville

Yesterday was my last day at work and Karen suggested that I get a picture of my boss Danny and I. I'm so happy she made that suggestion since this will be a great memory of the times working in that warehouse. Danny was less a boss and more a friend and I'm going to miss him. In less than 24 hours I will be on the road to a new life. How many times is a person able to say that in their lives? Some more than others I guess. For me this ends a stay in the Susanville area of 37 years. I'm not sad at all about this but it does generate some emotion, I have to admit.

So today I will be done with this house and my old life. I am moving the last of my stuff out this morning and by this afternoon I will either be heading down the road or I might be sleeping here tonight and leaving very early tomorrow morning. The countdown is done... sort of. Now it's on with the rest of my life and a new start... with a beautiful tax professional that I am madly in love with.

45½ hours to go!

The clock is ticking and soon I can get out of here and get on with it. Ya think I'm excited? Yep! Not only excited to be having a new life adventure but to finally get to be with the one person I want and need to be with. Not that I don't enjoy being with my family mind you, but this is much different. I'm not going to go into it here but the world is finally settling on it's axis in less than 46 hours.

Today will be a busy one for me and that's good. Tomorrow will be too and then I'll be hitting the road. Another little dusting of snow on the ground this morning but less than yesterday. Good old winter... ya gotta hate it!

3 days and I'm off!

Let's see... how many hours is that? Oh, about 70 hours till I leave. Of course that number will change as the day progresses, but as of right now. I have some stuff to do this morning and Chris is coming over from Sloat so I will be having a very good day today, no doubt. Tomorrow I will be working in the warehouse for the last time, and it will likely be a long day since I have lots to do. Long days and lots of stuff to do are preferable to sitting here wishing I was somewhere else... like, say... Idaho.

This morning there is a little snow on the ground but not much, just enough to make driving a little dicey. I guess I'll have to deal with it, huh? Not that I have to go very far, but Chris has to so I hope he doesn't have any problems. Yep, 3 days and counting!

5 Days to go!

Well, I decided to change my plans slightly. I'm gettin' outta here on Saturday instead of Sunday and if there was any way for me to do it sooner I would, but that's about the soonest I can go. I was thinking about staying overnight in Wells but now I think I'll just get it over with since I would be having a lot of trouble sleeping that night anyway. Funny how things in life create excitement like that. When I was a kid it was the night before Christmas that had the biggest impact on my excitement level I think. Now it's a lady I love, a slightly different scenario.

STILL... 5 DAYS LEFT!

Went for a walk up the Bizz today in the sun even though it was pretty chilly. My thermometer said 35° when I left the house around 1:00. I had a couple of layers on as well as a pair of gloves so I was quite comfortable. I might get one more walk in on this trail tomorrow but after that I have too many things to do. It's a little weird to think about that since I have always had the option of walking on this trail on a spur of the moment for the last 4 years, and now I'm going to move away and might not get a chance to do it again. I guess I'm getting a little nostalgic now that the day I leave is coming quickly.

Down to one week!

By this time next week I should be on Interstate 80 somewhere between Reno and Winnemucca. Of course I'm really wishing the time would go by faster but when you are anticipating something good in your life, the time has a way of moving too slow. When you are dreading something it seems the opposite is true. Go figure, huh? Well, no matter what I am looking forward to next week and getting on with my life and getting out of this limbo I seem to be stuck in.

One week! Seven days! Bring it on!
