Desolate and sad

Went up to have a little bike ride with my friend Chris yesterday up on the Janesville Grade. We parked his truck at the rain gauge and rode our bikes to the Antelope Lake boat ramp and back.

Round trip was 24 miles and there were a few hills to climb but it was a great ride. Unfortunately the view at the lake was less than beautiful due to the effects of last summer's fire. There is an active logging operation going on up there so they are in the process of removing most of the burned timber. I didn't see any hazard trees so hopefully the closure will expire soon and we can use the boat ramp this year. As much as I love this lake it was very sad to see this area. It used to be so covered in trees that you couldn't see the lake from the first 2 pictures vantage points. The last picture I took from down near the boat ramp looking back toward the entrance road. Again, it used to be heavily forested.
